It happens in every part of our lives, from the earth we inhabit to our own bodies. And, the changing seasons are our continual reminder of this phenomenon.
Autumn is the time of harvest, when we reap what we have sown during the year. It is a time for endings—of old ways and patterns that no longer serve us—but also for new beginnings.
This transitional season is often when our body needs the most support to adjust (and thrive) in the next, more extreme, period of winter. Additionally, our skin is dealing with the aftermath of sun exposure and increasing dryness & dehydration. A good way to take advantage of autumn’s liminal qualities is by simplifying and focusing on what truly nourishes you.
So as we dip into autumn, I commit to practicing a daily self-massage with A.OK body oil, which helps me increase circulation and leaves me feeling more calm, clear headed and grounded.
My A.OK routine
Start with a warm bath or hot shower - the heat will open your pores and make it easier to cleanse your skin.
Gently exfoliate skin with a body scrub or loofah, removing dead cells and encouraging better oil absorption.
Towel dry, leaving skin slightly damp allowing the pores to absorb oil better.
Apply A.OK body oil to palms and breathe deeply for a boost and to wake up the senses.
Rub palms together to warm the oil slightly, then apply it to skin using gentle, upward motions.(I like to start you with one area, like arms or legs, and work my way around my body focusing on areas that tend to be drier.) The oil will lock in the moisture.
Amplify your experience by using The Bird, our sandalwood massage tool.
If there’s any excess oil, gently pat your skin with a towel to remove it, leaving your skin feeling nourished and moisturized.
The result - soft, hydrated skin, that smells amazing AND your entire being feeling a little more grounded.
